What you’ll read below is a review of my book, Mastering Vim Quickly, by a guy named David, on Amazon.com. I found this review especially interesting, because David comes from a helicopter flying background.

I loaned this book and then just bought myself another copy.
It’s that good! I wish it was available for kindle. If you loan a copy, good luck getting it back 🤔.
Vim is fascinating! It has a little bit of a learning curve that this book helps you to clear quickly where you can become productive.
Vim is a different critter from your typical GUI (graphical user interface) text editors. But if your time is valuable using Vim effectively is a skill worth mastering. If you have never used Vim and are curious, I recommend opening a terminal and typing: vimtutor.
If you find you want more, “Mastering Vim Quickly” is an excellent choice for the next step. I come from a helicopter flying background. To become skilled at flying a helicopter, it takes logging flight time. To become skilled at using Vim, it takes logging Vim Time!
Mastering Vim Quickly will be an excellent instructional book to have by your side. Vim just gets better the more you use it. I’m amazing at how easy it makes doing things once you gain and maintain the skill.
I don’t fly anymore, but you know what? I find using Vim just as enjoyable as manipulating the controls of a helicopter doing cool stuff! I like the Pro Terminal (see the picture) set with a comfortable see through opacity that allows you to see what’s beneath rather than always having to shift my head. And once you master Vim you no longer have to always be reaching for a mouse and dragging a cursor where you want or need to be.
Vim is a TUI (touch user interface) rather than a GUI, so your hands never have to leave the keyboard. And you know what? I own Scrivener, but I’m using Vim to write my novel. So, you can do much more with Vim than just write code.
